“A Pinch of Gratitude”

" At times our own light goes out and is rekindled by a spark from another person. Each one of us has cause to think with deep gratitude of those who have lifted the flame within us”...... Albert Schweitzer.

This is a real life experience

My sister during her college days at Sophias, where she was doing her Mass media and journalism, had to do a documentary on AIDS. She started searching hospitals where she could identify someone suffering from it. She came across a 4 and a half year old boy accompanied by his grandmother. On enquiring , she found that he had lost his parents to AIDS and now he too was a victim of the deadly disease. His grandmother could not afford to meet his expenses. My sister started visiting his home , a chawl in Chembur to know more about him, his living condtions etc. She started to spend quality time with him and learnt a great deal about him. Her documentary on him touched many hearts which in turn got him a life time sponsorship.

After some months when she visited his home she was taken aback…her photo was pinned next to that of his parents. She asked him, "ye kaun hai" to which he said "ye mera didi hai" .... she was moved.

My dear friends this was a 4 and a half year old boy’s way of expressing his gratitude.

How often do we express our gratitude towards others?

We often boast about our achievements in life, but do we acknowledge the people who have helped us reach where we are today, be it our parents, loved ones , siblings , friends or just a stranger we met who was kind. We often tend to forget people who influence our lives in one form or the other.

So my dear friends as you finish reading this, if somebody has done something for you make it a point to thank that person…a call , an email , a letter or a small prayer would suffice. Believe me you will add blessings, value and happiness in your lives. So spice up your life with “A PINCH OF GRATITUDE”
